The origins of the name Galactic Wanderlust

My first love has always been the stars. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember, and at least since I was 3 and my dad taught me the names of the nine planets. With that there has always been a desire to explore the universe. Some of that has been fueled by the shows and movies I grew up watching. But I’ve never felt fully at home living on earth. I have always wanted to be away, among the stars.

So earlier in 2015 I was listening to Carefree Highway by Gordon Lightfoot. I was at work, and I don’t remember what was going on. Anyway the song is about remembering an old love and trying to escape from it. And when he got to the line I guess it must be wanderlust or trying to get free, I started thinking about this decades old driving idea in my heart, and the words “Galactic Wanderlust” popped into my head.

About me

I’m Raymond Gilford. I’m a graphic designer, blogger, tech, space, science, and photography enthusiast based in Austin, TX. I’ve had some sort of blog going since 2002. They’ve had a number of domains attached to them and have been on WordPress most of that time. I’ll be delving into (site categories) ancient manuscripts, philosophy, food, survival, organization, health & fitness, and everything else. This last will be a repository for WTFs and miscellany. There is an about category where I write blurbs about site maintenance here. Feel free to leave me a comment and/or reach me on email, Facebook, G+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube. Much of the content from this site appears on my Facebook page, Tumblr, and is pulled from my blog at galacticwanderlust.com. Thank you for reading.
